About Mark
Osteopathy in waterdown, Ontario
“I believe overall health is achieved only once you acknowledge and address the needs of the whole body. This is also the principle behind osteopathic manual therapy — the whole body must function together for optimal health.” Mark Boutillier, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
I was drawn to osteopathy through a lifelong interest in how the body moves and what allows it to function at its best. Growing up playing a variety of team sports, I experienced firsthand how injuries and repetitive strain can affect performance and overall well-being. This led me to constantly look for ways to move better, recover more effectively, and prevent further injury.
That interest developed into a career as a certified personal trainer, where I spent over 10 years helping clients improve strength, movement, and performance. Over time, I began to take a more holistic approach — recognizing that the body doesn’t function in isolated parts, but as an interconnected system.
During this time, I also experienced my own ongoing health challenges. That experience deepened my appreciation for the body’s ability to adapt and heal, while highlighting how unresolved tension and restriction can continue to impact how we feel and function. This ultimately led me to pursue osteopathy.
Today, my approach to care is rooted in understanding how the body’s structure, connective tissues, and nervous system work together. I use a variety of gentle, hands-on techniques — with a particular focus on myofascial release — to identify and address areas of restriction that may be contributing to pain, tension, or dysfunction.
I have a particular interest in working with chronic and more complex conditions, especially for individuals who feel they have tried multiple approaches without lasting relief. By addressing underlying patterns within the body, treatment aims to restore movement, improve function, and support long-term change.
As a father of two young children, I also value the importance of early support and gentle care. I work with infants and children to help address areas of tension, support development, and promote greater comfort and ease.
My goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care that helps people feel and move better — whether they are dealing with persistent pain, recovering from injury, or simply looking to improve how their body functions day to day.
